If you haven’t read Martha’s posted comment from this morning, please do! She demonstrated beautifully how “working through” the risk in your head, ahead of time, can be a great motivation tool. She articulated how the thing she was contemplating doing was a risk, but that not doing it was an even greater risk! Just like the Erica Jong quote, “If you don’t risk anything, you risk even more.”
One of my risks for the day will be adding a mention of this blog to my signature block. I don’t have all of the ins and outs of it figured out yet, but I am ready to expose myself and what I have been creating to more and more people. I have also already written my assistant about creating an announcement to go out to my list about it, and I will do whatever it is that she tells me I need to do to make this happen.
I know it doesn’t seem like much, but what I also know is that if I don’t do these things, I will be disappointed in myself, which will lead to all kinds of negative self-talk, and this is never fun or productive. I also know that I won’t be giving my business a chance to grow in this way, nor will I be honoring my values of full self-expression, integrity, self-love, creativity, or being a responsible business woman. So, I will do these things!
What risk will you take today, and what would be the risk in not doing it?
I look forward to hearing from you… Laura
