In Atlanta traffic, it is imperative that your horn works. Sounding your horn makes others aware of your presence. “Hey! Here I am!” We have all used our horns in this manner. Ok, there are other things you can communicate with your horn, but that’s for another conversation. I am talking about making your presence known.
I have been blessed that in the nearly 20 years of providing massage, I have never had to advertise. Luckily, word of mouth has been my best ally. In this business, the best way that folks hear about your services is a positive referral. But with our discretionary income more precious than ever, folks are reluctant to spend on themselves.
By now, folks know how essential massage is to maintaining health. Increasing circulation helps muscles loosen and relieves the “knots” we feel in tight muscles. Massage relieves headaches, lowers heart rate and blood pressure. It enhances immunity by stimulating lymph flow – the body’s natural defense system. People who receive massage have been shown to be more effective in the work place. Having a regular routine of massage, folks are more likely to eat better, exercise and get the rest they need.
People know this right? Well, the answer is probably. Most likely, if an individual is getting massage on a regular basis, they know this by virtue of actively enjoying the health benefits of taking care of oneself. If a person is in the habit of taking care of his/herself regularly, they are most likely being rewarded with a healthy body. Massage is good at reminding you to be nice to you: “ I just invested in an hour of self care, now I think I will compliment that with a healthy meal, a walk and a good night’s rest.”
For awhile now, I have been hesitant to “toot my horn”; to let people know about my services. Being true to this “risk-a-day” adventure I am going to challenge myself to get the word out. As you can tell, I love talking about massage. Now all I have to do is tell others about what I can do.
