The party is over and it’s kind of sad. It is like having a big birthday bash that is loud and fun. Then everyone leaves and the room echoes from the quiet.
There was so much excitement and activity leading up to the inauguration, and although the days’ events may have even taken a toll on you, you may still miss the atmosphere of hope, faith, and opportunity.
What is exciting now is the anticipation of, and wondering about, the changes that we’ll experience over the next few months, even years. How will President Obama handle first 100 days in office? What will be his challenges?
And what about you? What opportunities does this of administration offer you? Is it a new outlook, a new hope, or something else?

This makes me think of my first 100 days in “office.” I have a friend who just loves lines of demarcation… New Year’s, birthdays, the 1st day of the month and so on. I have a birthday coming up and I have decided to become the president of the United States of Andrea (love that Spielberg is going that show!), and to see what I can do in my first 100 days. How many fear-based policies can be shifted to courageous bold policies? How many of my inner nay-sayers can be transformed into believers in hope and CHANGE? I agree with you, Laura, that most of us are the cheerleaders for others’ change, yet find ourselves shackled to our old familiar fear-based limitations. Mine come in disguise. If it looked like fear I wouldn’t buy it – I believe in love, not fear. But fear masquerades as anything but fear – mine usually looks like tired, low-energy, lack of motivation. “Wow, I have so many AMAZING ideas – look how creative and clever I am! If only I had the energy to actually pull it off…” That is a nasty fear-trick and I know it. This will be the first policy to fall under the scrutiny of my new cabinet – the cabinet of experts in hope, responsibility, motivation, and TRUST. I know that my first 100 days in office will bring a change I can believe in… Thanks for your wonderful messages and your willingness to share – even when it feels vulnerable. That is true leadership, Laura.
Andrea, this is beautiful – I LOVE IT!!! Thank you soooo much for sharing it. I love how can all we “riff” off of each other, as Mark Bryan says. I can’t wait to see how it’s going. Please keep us posted!
