Risk?

Recently, I took a trip to Ireland with my husband and another couple.  We had a marvelous time in that beautiful country.  The people are so nice and friendly.  I love it there.

We were in a very old thatched cottage where we were to have a traditional Irish meal and hear storytellers and traditional Irish music when I turned my ankle because of a sloping floor I wasn’t aware of and took a tumble.  I didn’t fall to the ground but caught myself with my forearm on a table.  The result was an injury to my shoulder.

I’ve had an MRI and now I know that I have a tear in the rotator cuff.  Not good.  The risk I’m taking is in NOT having surgery right away.  The doctor and I decided on seeing how much physical therapy would help and so I start on Monday.  Truth to tell, I’ve already started it on my own.  I try every day to push a little bit past what I could do the day before and so far it’s working!

I am a very determined individual and I know I’ll work hard with the therapist.  I think I have a really good chance of bypassing surgery.  We’ll see.  It’s a risk but one I’m very willing to take.  Surgery will always be an option.

I don’t have to throw a ball or play golf and as long as I can do the things I need to do for myself and others, I’ll be just fine.
