Playing What If…?

| January 17, 2010 | 2 Comments

I’ve been playing “What If…?” with myself recently where my business is concerned. I’ve been trying on some dreams and plans for size…seeing how it might feel to take one path over another, grow one part and let another part go, or maybe add back some services I’d previously stopped offering.

Growing beyond where I’m am requires help. Growing beyond where I am requires trusting others. Growing beyond where I am requires a plan.

This week, I’m taking the risk of deciding what I want, in which direction will I grow and whom I will invite in.

would like to say she made the leap from Corporate America to web coach / WordPress developer on her own terms...but no, she lost her job after the CEO ran off with the 401K funds and went to jail. So, she started her own business with 3 kids, 2 dogs and a cat in tow on Dec. 6, 2002. It's been a wild ride, worth every risk, and she now proudly deems herself "pyschologically unemployable".

Suzanne, this is a crucial point in a business. You in effect are defining your “brand essence”. Once you accomplish that, you will find it easier to know what to keep, what to discard, and how to go forward. If I can help with the brand essence exercises, just give me a call.

I don’t know if you’ve read the book “The E Myth Revisited” or “How to Write A Successful Marketing Plan”. The second book is more than 500 pages, but I strongly encourage you to at least check it out at your library. It’s my business bible, and my most valuable resource. That doesn’t mean I always avail myself of the all the information. Recommending it to you, however, has reminded me that I haven’t been using it lately. I think I will.

I admire your courage and tenacity. You’ll figure this out, I’m sure.

P.S. I still laugh when I read your “psychologically unemployable”. I SO relate!
