I’m gonna skip the gory details and get to the point: I was diagnosed with gallstones last February. Since that time, I’ve been seeing a Holistic Practitioner along with my family doctor and potential surgeon. As you can imagine, they are on opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of treatment and I don’t know which way to go. Leaving my gallbladder in puts me at risk for some serious health issues. Taking it out does too.
I’ve made some pretty drastic diet and lifestyle changes (including “passing gallstones naturally”-I THINK it worked, but I’m not sure) but don’t know if it’s enough to prevent other attacks (I’ve had two that landed me in the ER). I’m also a little worried that I won’t maintain this new lifestyle once school starts back up in August.
For now, I’m just trying to “be” with sitting at the crossroads and feel confident that, in time, I’ll know what the right decision is for me. Wish me luck!
Kitty Karn risked it ALL and moved to the cornfields of West Central Illinois where she found her dream man and her dream job. She can hardly wait to see what the Universe has in store for the rest of her life and is even more excited to see what happens on everyone else's journeys!! Let's share in each other's joys and sorrows.

I have had gallstones for over 20 years. I changed my diet and became symptom free. Doctor said after 15 years my chances of having another attack are slim, BUT that if I do they would take it out. So, just wanted you to know that this can be lived with.
Oh, shoot. This is a bummer. I don’t have any words of wisdom, just wanted to wish you well!
Geesshh–the pain you must be enduring (grimacing at the thought!) Hope your holistic treatments and diet changes do the trick–and remember to be very kind to yourself
You are so loved Ms. Karn/Mrs. Stryker! Miss you, A.
Thanks for the comments and well wishes! Just to clarify….I’m feeling MUCH better and have not had any pain in weeks. Must be all the belly dancing ;-0
Ouch! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you!
Hey, Ms. Kitty – great that you aren’t in pain now. I had those/that myself and decided to go the surgery route and get it over with. It worked out very well for me. I am sure that whatever you decide will be right for you! Regardless of what you decide, keep up that belly dancing so you can teach me!
May your body go gently and may you be led by a healing spirit.
