It’s my birthday today, and I risk…
- Embracing my age, the last year I can say my age begins with a “4″
- Embracing my youth, seeing a long road ahead of me with so many possibilities
- Receiving — right into my heart — the warmth and love of those who care about me
- Receiving — right into my ear, which connects to my heart — the beautiful singing on my voicemail
- Paying for my car registration right smack on the deadline day (whew!)
- Taking care of my body, heart and soul, in preparation for the years to come
- Telling a stranger that it’s my birthday
- Having expectations
- Being disappointed when expectations don’t quite pan out
- Being delighted when they do
- Being surprised when something unexpected occurs
- Asking for what I want
- Acknowledging to myself what I want
- Designing my day, my way
- Celebrating myself
- Publishing this post

awesome post !! Love the idea of embracing your age , from both sides. We really are lucky to have these years eh? Love the daring to ask for what you need. Love the telling the stranger it’s your birthday. Just think, you gave them a reason to celebrate this day… This precious day that we can celebrate you!
I celebrate that you came into our lives in such a sweet, wonderful way. I celebrate that you are so filled with love and you are using the power of that love with the person you are for the greater good of all.
Happy Birthday Martha! How will you gift the world with your presence today?
Happy, happy birthday, baby! (Hear me singin’? LOL)
Awwwwww, thanks, everyone! It’s so nice to celebrate one’s birthday in such a lovely community. I feel blessed.
Happy Belated Birthday! Love the post!
You also bless us, please don’t ever forget that. Thank you for this post. I just posted it on Facebook so even more people can read it!
Happy Birthday Martha! The hum of celebration is everywhere and the singing has only just begun. That’s what I read in your list of risks. I especially love that you dare to expect and that you are willing to be with the outcome of your expectations. So many people have given up expecting. They don’t want to “reach too high.” It’s vulnerable to desire and more so to expect. Yet, without expectation, no child would ever be born. So, why would our dreams be any different?
