A risk a day? Yikes!

| June 29, 2008 | 4 Comments

I realize that a risk a day may seem a bit extreme, but rest assured that it doesn’t have to be that way! Sometimes, taking a risk is quitting your job to become a coach (done that one), singing in front of thousands of people (yeah, done that one, too), or committing to write your innermost thoughts in a place where practically anyone in the world can see them (I’m doing that one right now)! And then at other times, a risk can be something as simple as getting out of bed and facing the day. (I must admit I’ve been here, too. Have you?)

As I said, I’m committing, and hoping that you will, too, to take at least one risk a day. I am also committing to report in about them here, on my new blog. Now I am not saying that I will report in every day, but I will check in often, and I invite you to do the same. Just think: this way, we can inspire each other to do the things we know we’ll feel better from doing, but for whatever reason, are afraid to do! What do you think? Are you game? I hope so!

My risk for today? Making my first ever post on my very own blog when I know practically nothing about what I am doing!

I am seeking a new approach to creating. In the past it had to be about ego. Now I want to write and create and play without attachment or judgment-just create to bring more light and to enjoy the process of creating.

    Dear Heather –
I love this. It is similar to what I am thinking these days. Because I believe that we are meant to do what brings us fulfillment and joy, I am tuning into that and “risking” honoring it more and more. Keep up the good work — I mean — play!
    Love,
    Laura

I have been studying Kabbalah and it has been illuminating and very helpful. I tend not to risk or create because I just don’t want to be responsible. This isn’t me being hard on myself or quoting someone else, this is a heartfelt reality I have realized. I have several ideas for books, screenplays, websites, etc. I have had several since before we did Artists’ Way together. Chaos is a very convenient distracter from Creativity. I have started writing and researching again and it feels like a compulsion now- I NEED to. I like that feeling. I think I can TRULY accomplish ANYTHING I choose, if it is in alignment with God’s will (not forcing or manipulating), and I am willing to be responsible for it.

Wow, Heather, what insights you are gaining! Even that is a risk, I would assert. Thanks so much for continuing to check in here. Not only do I feel it will give others the courage and permission to do so, I also really enjoy being back in touch this way!
